Kat Von D Matte Pitch Black Lipstick Review

IMG_0624

Colour:
NYX but describes this lippie as "blackness." That's certainly not off the mark! Chambord is a semi-matte (as promised) greenish-based black. This is a true blackness, not a dark gray, and the pigment is true to what you see in the tube. Information technology's a twinge sheer in one swipe, but two is perfect for true opacity. While other black lipsticks be, and there's definitely a market for them, black is still absent from near major brands' lines, then it'south groovy seeing NYX come out with one.iv.75/5)

Wear:
I'm pleased to say Chambord looked fantastic for v full hours of vesture. Information technology didn't fade or feather throughout that time. (5/5)

Formula:
Like the other lippies in the Macaron range, Chambord applied smoothly and felt so flossy. It also had assuming, strong paint (that could benefit from the precision of a lip brush). I similar that this applied better than some of the others. This was more forgiving on dry out lips and didn't bunch up similar Blue Velvet did on dry patches. Also, my lips didn't feel as dried out after wearing Chambord. Nonetheless, I had this on for a few moments to photograph, and it had already stained my lips (to the signal where I needed a scrub to get the color off all the way). That blazon of excessive paint seems to be common with this range of lipsticks.(4/5)

IMG_0623

Packaging:
As I've said before, the Macaron Lippie line's packaging feels markedly cheap. They come in black plastic tubes with a articulate ring that shows a peek of the color inside. To show that color, the inner tube is articulate, which I think looks very depression-upkeep. Also, these have an inexpensive feel (the lipstick can rattle in the tube in some, and I take one where the color was smeared within the articulate tube when I bought it). I don't think the plastic is dexterous enough to withstand a lot of crude utilise (drops or travel). However, they're non besides large and store easily.(3.5/v)

Price:
Each Macaron Lippie is $6 USD for 0.16 oz of production. That's $37.50 per ounce, which is more than product for less money than a MAC lipstick ($16 for 0.1 oz), for example. But of form, quality is just as important as face value. Chambord is fantastic not only for the cost, merely for the line as a whole.(5/5)

Wow Gene:
As I've mentioned, black lipsticks are rare and assuming, but not unheard of and definitely have their fans. So while the shade was one of the less unique in the range, it'south quality impressed me. I've struggled with some of the other lipsticks in the Macaron range, equally my lips are chronically dry out, just Chambord was more forgiving, which I appreciated greatly. I tin can see myself getting more than employ out of Chambord than some of the others for this, lonely.(4.v/5)

Overall:
I think Chambord is excellently done. It's pigment rich, long-wearing, and comfortable to have on the lips. Information technology too has one of the most even applications out of any in the Macaron range that I've tried so far. I think it's fantastic that members of niche cosmetic communities (cosplayers/those with a darker aesthetic) now accept admission to a superior black lipstick than was previously bachelor, at an inexpensive cost. It too goes without saying that a shade this dark will await bold and dramatic beyond all skin tones.(4.v) A-

IMG_0580

Colour: NYX describes this lipstick as just "light grayness" with a "satin matte finish." I agree on both counts. Black Sesame looked similar a light concrete gray to me, and does take that semi-matte texture. When I looked at this line, this grayness seemed the nearly interesting to me, and one of the more wearable of the unusual shades. I certainly don't own anything like this!(5/5)

Wear: With how great the pigment comes out, I was expecting this to last longer. All the same, Blackness Sesame only fabricated it three full hours of wear. By four hours, it began to wait sheer.(3.5/5)

Formula: The texture of this lipstick is really prissy. It goes on creamy and shine, and applies easily and evenly. It didn't tug on the lips or go on patchy. It besides had groovy opacity. However, it has a slick experience that never becomes tacky. This bothered me a lot as it was very unpleasant (although if you hate thick/tacky lipsticks, this would be great formula to try). This too have a nice vanilla smell.(4/5)

Packaging: The packaging felt cheap to me. It's plastic, and with some of the lipsticks in this line, the tube can rattle a little flake. I besides received one that had lipstick smudged on the within of the clear plastic tube (not cute). It just doesn't seem similar a lot of endeavour was put into packaging. It's functional and theyre easy to store, merely these seem decumbent to corking or other damage if dropped.(2.5/5)

IMG_0578

Price: A unmarried Macaron Lippie is $6 USD for 0.sixteen oz of product. This is a more than generous weight than even MAC lipsticks (which are only .i oz and nearly 3x the price of one of these). Macaron Lippies are also the cheapest per ounce I've e'er seen a cosmetic product, coming in at only iii cents an ounce! But as always, I factor in getting your money'southward worth as well as the monetary value. Black Sesame is a beautifully unique shade, and applies and builds well for full opacity. Then i certainly think this delivers on quality for the toll!(5/v)

Wow Gene:There's a lot of positive things to be said for Black Sesame. Information technology has great opacity and is easy to apply. Information technology has a creamy  feel going on. A lot of brands come out with shades that look bold in the tube but are very sheer and watered downwardly; this Blackness Sesame isn't similar that! However, I didn't similar the oily feel this had on my lips, and the wear was a picayune disappointing.(iii.v/5)

Overall: This is definitely a unique, assuming shade I can see many women being interested in. The neutral tone and intense pigment makes me believe this would be flattering across all pare tones. The formula nice and the price tin can't exist beat, either. Just be mindful of the feel the sparse formula has on the mouth, it's not for everyone.(3.1) C-

Color:
Sephora's site describes Wolvesmouth every bit "metal berry." My impression was that it's a absurd, midtone metallic burgundy. Needless to say, it's a fabled fall colour and quickly became my new fave. I own nothing similar it. The metallic cease is noticeable without existence too intense.(5/v)

Wear:
This lipstick is exactly what I mean when I say "long lasting." It looked perfect for a full 8 hours, even after a meal. Information technology didn't even fade in the eye of the mouth, the way lippies tend to do equally yous eat. It stayed on through it all.(5/five)

Formula:
This lipstick applied smoothly and went on rich and even. Information technology didn't budge, and yet remained comfy to clothing. It didn't dry my lips out at all. Of the three I've tested so far, Wolvesmouth had the smoothest application and the nicest feel. Information technology also has a delicious creme brulee aroma.(5/5)

Packaging:
As usual with the Studded Kiss line of lipsticks, Wolvesmouth came in a black studded plastic tube. I recollect the packaging is tearing and matches the image of the brand. Also, I think it's dexterous enough to withstand travel. However, the tubes are a bit wide, just I don't find them hard to store. These may piece of work meliorate going in a drawer than a stand-up acrylic lipstick holder.(4.5/v)

IMG_0234

Cost:
Studded Kiss lipsticks are $21 USD for 0.1 oz of production. That'southward $210 an ounce. MAC lipsticks are $16 for the aforementioned amount ($160 an ounce), so these aren't the cheapest lippies on the market. However, I call back Wolvesmouth is fantastic quality. It'southward a beautiful shade with great texture and staying power, perfect for this time of twelvemonth. I absolutely, highly recommend information technology and recollect it has the quality to support a $21 toll tag.(5/5)

Wow Gene:
Wolvesmouth definitely impressed me. Information technology has a great, subtly metallic end, rich paint, easy, smooth application, and top notch staying ability. If information technology's practiced plenty to trump all my pinkish lippies and take the place as my favorite lipstick, so it's definitely got something special!(v/5)

Overall:
Wolvesmouth is fantastic and I highly recommend it. I love the berry color and finish, and it'south exemplary of what a great lipstick should be: rich pigment, smashing staying power, unique, comfortable to vesture, easy to apply. I wish all the lippies in the Studded Kiss line were up to this standard. It's a fabled shade.(4.9) A+

IMG_0216

Colour:
Sephora describes the shade as "iridescent neon lilac." On the lips, its a mid-tone absurd fuchsia purple with majestic iridescence. I don't accept a shade like this, and haven't seen a color this rare. Information technology volition be hard to gull!(5/five)

Wear:
This is a surprisingly long-wearing lipstick. It wore well for 5 hours and looked generally in-tact later on a repast. Information technology didn't fade, drain, or plume. (5/five)

Formula:
The formula on Wonderchilde is not stellar. The iridescence in this shade felt gritty going on. Also, it needs to exist congenital up, and even then, I can just go it to nearly fourscore% opacity. The base colour applies smoothly but the iridescence is a piddling patchy. However, it didn't dry out my lips out. It too has a lovely creme brulee scent. (3.5/5)

IMG_0217

Packaging:
The Studded Buss Lipstick line has edgy blackness studded plastic tubes. I call back it's glamorous and fits Kat Von D'southward image perfectly. The size is a little large, just I don't notice these lipsticks any more difficult to store than other brands'. The packaging doesn't feel cheap, which I like at this price betoken. (5/5)

Price:
These lipsticks sell for $21 USD and contains 0.1 oz of product (for a full of $210 per ounce). A MAC lipstick is $16 for the same corporeality ($160 an ounce). So Studded Buss lipsticks aren't the cheapest lippies effectually. Nevertheless, I think the rareness of a shade like Wonderchilde alone volition warrant lots of purchases. Too, it'due south not a bad quality lipstick. It doesn't apply perfectly (or totally mask pigmented lips), simply it does a fair task, and then I call back it's worth information technology for a shade this unique.(four/5)

Wow Factor:
Of course a shade like this is impressive, considering information technology's rarely been done before. It'south ane of those eye-catching colors as presently as you open the tube. The sparkling effect it has on the lips is interesting as well, like fairy dust. There's room for comeback, but mostly I was impressed.(4/five)

Overall:
I think Wonderchilde is a special lipstick. Information technology'southward got a unique, interesting color that I tin encounter people reaching for when they want to stand out, boost their confidence, go to a party, wear with a cosplay, etc. For a shade this twinkly, information technology'due south long lasting also. Information technology didn't dry out the lips despite feeling a flake gritty. If the colour interests y'all and you don't mind the price, I would recommend information technology.(4.4) B+

IMG_0213

I had been very eager to tryKat Von D Studded Osculation Lipsticks since their inception. So when I got the chance, I picked up three (and since holiday collections came out, I've scored a fleck more than!). The beginning one up for review today isBackstage Bambi, a "matte vivid hot pink."

Color:
As you all know, I live for pinkish lipsticks. Backstage Bambi is a vivid, midtone pink, just like the brand describes. The color payoff is truthful to the tube as well. It's a gorgeous shade, but it doesn't get any originality points–many take compared it MAC's Processed Yum Yum, and I found it similar to MAC's Daughter About Town, simply matte (GAT is Amplified Creme).four.five/v

IMG_0215

Vesture:
This made it to the 5-hour mark, which is my goal for a lipstick, looking flawless. Backstage Bambi had some extra staying power, though. At half dozen hours it looked a flake sheerer and felt more stain-like. Despite this, at the 8-hour mark (and afterward a repast), this lippie still looked fantastic: bold pigment and fifty-fifty vesture. Information technology should be mentioned that this promised 10 hours of article of clothing, simply that'south a lilliputian ridiculous to me. Having said that, it cut it close!5/5

Formula:
This lipstick is matte, so information technology tugged at the lips always so slightly (merely still went on easily, just less flossy). Information technology applied, and wore, opaque and evenly. It had that powdery texture on the mouth that most mattes have (that I don't dislike) and a wonderful scent that I idea was vanilla, but is technically creme brulee. It lasted well and was comfy all throughout the habiliment time. It didn't dry my lips out, to boot.5/5

IMG_0077

Packaging:
I'thousand in honey with the packaging on this line! It's and so perfect for Kat Von D–studded, shiny blackness plastic tubes. They're edgy and cool looking, without the plastic feeling inexpensive, which is squeamish from a brand at this price point. You'll dearest taking these with yous to reapply in public! The circumference is a bit large, though, so while they're non cumbersome, they may not exist a breeze to store (I lay them on their sides in a drawer). The sticker on the bottom identifying the color proper name is shaded to match the production, though, and then I imagine this could help with system.4.v/five

Price:
Each Studded Kiss lipstick is $21 USD for 0.10 oz of product. This isn't the cheapest on the market (MAC is $5 less for the same production weight), nor is the shade and so unique it justifies picking this specific pink, at this price, over all others. However the quality, paint, and staying power is all in that location with Backstage Bambi, warranting a high "bang for your cadet" score. Every bit always, I leave whether or not expensive products are truly "worth it" to the individual.4.5/5

Wow Gene:
Once more, not the nigh special shade under the sun. But for a matte? It's very impressive–easy (plenty) application, long wear (post repast), vivid paint, fifty-fifty fading. Those make for a good lipstick to me! What's truly remarkable is that Backstage Bambi doesn't dry out the lips out–every matte lipstick lover needs that!4/5

Overall:
Backstage Bambi is a not bad lipstick. Information technology delivers on it's hope of assuming paint and "luxe comfort." While it didn't accomplish the promised 10 hr mark, it made it to 8 looking fantastic. If yous're interested in this lipstick, I wholeheartedly recommend it.4.6 (A-)

Availability:
-Sephora, Exclusively

Useful Information:
-This product was purchased by me.
-Kat Von D'due south makeup line is cruelty free, yet follows the "where mandated by law" animal testing policy.
-This lipstick is made without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
-This lipstick also contains vitamins A, C, and E to keep lips moisturized.

I had never tried a Moisture 'n' Wild lipstick before, just I had heard skillful things most them. When I saw a cute shade of pink, Remember Pink, being promoted at my local drugstore, I knew I had to purchase it. Non only tin can I not say no to a new pinkish lippie, a portion of the sales from this particular shade would go to the American Cancer Society.

Color:

Call back Pinkish is a warm, vivid pinkish with a adequately glossy stop. Information technology wasn't quite as dupeable as I expected–a lot of shades I thought were similar were too orange in comparison–but Revlon Lip Butter in Sugariness Tart was the closest I have, although it's lighter, cooler, and more shimmery than Think Pink. (four/five)

Wear:

This lipstick went on fully opaque and stayed that fashion for a full 5 hours, fifty-fifty afterwards a meal. Even the glossiness persists more than I expected–later an hour, the shine had worn downwards a footling, but it didn't turn semi-matte until the fourth hour. (5/5)

Formula:

This has a very faint chemical aroma, but it's very minor and not noticeable on the lips. It applies creamy and shine, very pigmented. It doesn't tug on the lips when you put it on, and remains comfortable to clothing. It has great staying power for such a flossy formula. (5/v)

Packaging:
Unfortunately, the packaging looks and feels cheap. It's all lightweight plastic with a articulate cap. I noticed that the cap on mine feels looks, like you can shake it effectually a picayune. I imagine it might fissure easily if dropped or during travel. Also, the twist-up product doesn't twist down into the tube all the way (it's designed to stick out a little) but it ended up smearing the inside of the cap. (2.5/five)

Price:

This line of lipsticks sells for $1.99, but I was able to get it for even less on sale. Each tube contains 0.11 oz of product, which is marginally more than average. Since the face value of these is inexpensive, the toll per ounce is finer cheap ($18.09 per ounce). I honey when drugstore products like this bear witness that quality doesn't have to come with an unpleasant price tag. (5/5)

Wow Factor:

I was highly impressed by the pigment, shine application, and staying power of this lipstick. It's e'er great when a brand gives back as well. It'due south not the nearly unique and the packaging is underwhelming, though. (4/five)

Overall:
This is one of those drugstore gems. It's dissimilar than nearly things in my collection of pink lippies since it leans much warmer and is darker toned while still being quite girly. It applies like a dream and lasts actress long. All that for the price can't be beat! (The flimsy packaging is what brought the score downwards.)4.25 (B)

-Drugstores

So when I heard about her new line of Studded Kiss Lipstick for fall 2014, I knew I had to let you beauties know! With 30(!) fabulous shades and a funky mix of finishes, there's leap to be a hue for any aesthetic personality. Wonderchilde, pictured in a higher place, definitely defenseless my eye! There's girly pinks and purples, soft nudes, femme, archetype reds, powerful, fun glitters, deep, edgy berries, and bold blacks, browns, and bronzes. These seem then different and unlike what other brands are currently offering. All 30 lippies are currently available at Sephora.

Hither's a list of the full shade range:

medianet_width='600′; medianet_height= '250'; medianet_crid='228266391′;

If you lot had asked me, before I was a makeup junkie, which cosmetic product I favored, I would've said eyeshadow. But nowadays, after sampling all sorts of product types, I tin say hands that my favorite kind of production is lipstick. A lippie is the 1 thing I can swipe on with no other makeup and instantly feel more together.

Then what would it take for me to take the perfect, holy grail lipstick? Here's what I would require:

  • Full opacity, a soft smooth, and bold color.
  • A shine awarding–no bunching, bleeding, feathering, or melting into lip lines.
  • A creamy experience, comfortable clothing and post-wear hydration.
  • 5-8 hours of solid, perfect color, with fifty-fifty fading when the time comes.

For the perfect production, I'd be willing to pay any amount I could, so price and packaging aren't major factors. I practise enjoy superficial touches though, similar luxe packaging and a lovely aroma. What exercise you lot recall lovelies? Know any lippies that come across my requirements? Let me know! I'd be dying to try 'em. And experience free to tell me what your ideal lipstick (or shadow, or foundation, whatsoever!) looks similar!

medianet_width='600′; medianet_height= '250'; medianet_crid='228266391′;

This is my own photo

I've heard a lot virtually NYX over the years. This isn't my start feel with them (an eyeshadow was… and I shudder to call up about it!) But this is my kickoff try with their lipsticks. Since I know I love bright pinks, I figured the bold shade Narcissus would exist a good place to outset with the brand's popular round case lipsticks.

Color:

It's common knowledge that I love pink lipsticks, so I figured I'd probably have a dupe for this in my stash already. But I was pleasantly surprised by Narcissus' uniqueness! It was warmer and brighter than all the others I have. Narcissus is a cool blue pinkish with a sheen, simply it's warmer than the other blue pinks in my drove. This really reminded me of a lipstick version of China Glaze'southward Flip Bomb Fantasy smoothen, except FFF is matte and errs more coral, whereas Narcissus is distinctly pink. The brand describes information technology as "clean blue-toned pink foam"(iv/5)

Article of clothing:

For a production that went on and so smooth and slippery, I wasn't expecting the great clothing I got. At that place was some initial fading later on the first hr or so, simply afterward that, it stayed consistent for a solid 5 hours. (iv.5/5)

This is my ain photo.

Formula:

This lipstick goes on nice and smooth,  and although it's not the wettest I've ever felt, there is some sideslip. The application reminded me a lot of Revlon'south Lip Butters-it looks fine from a normal viewing altitude, but up close, you tin can really come across how the lipstick clings to every line in the lip. Not cute! However, I found that the formula was very comfortable to wear. It didn't heal dry lips, but it didn't make them whatever worse for wear later a total 24-hour interval. This is definitely i of the more comfortable lip formulas I've tried. (four.5/5)

Packaging:

Round Instance Lipsticks come in circular, shiny black plastic tubes with product proper noun on meridian of the cap and a color swatch on the lesser (making information technology easier to observe the shade y'all're looking for one time the product is in your storage). Information technology doesn't feel cheap (but doesn't experience more expensive than it is, either). I think NYX's packaging is cuter than what yous normally get at the drugstore. (5/5)

Price:

This lippie cost me only $3.99 USD for 0.xiv oz of product. This is a dandy deal, non merely because of the bargain cost tag, only considering you lot actually go more than than the boilerplate lipstick (a MAC lippie for case is only 0.i oz). So this makes NYX lipsticks cheaper than most both at face value and by the ounce. (5/five)

This is my own photo.

Wow Factor:

I was impressed this lippie managed to be unlike than the others I ain (simply I don't think it's so unique it's incommunicable to dupe). The habiliment was stellar for such a creamy formula (even though information technology wore off a flake initially). It was also uncommonly comfortable to wear and felt more moisturizing than other brands, all of which left a favorable impression on me. (iv/5)

Useful Data:

-NYX is 100% cruelty free (no selling in China).
-Most NYX products are vegan but some do comprise animal derivatives.
-This lipstick has a very strong floral odor that's a fleck unpleasant. It's not offensive, and it doesn't last, but it's there and noticeable while applying.
-This product was purchased by me.

-NYX products are available at specialty shops, like Target and Ulta.

Overall:

This is a very prissy lipstick! It feels bang-up on and lasts. I think it'll await best on the lighter, cooler end of the skin tone spectrum. I similar that it'southward affordable and bright without being neon. I'd recommend information technology! 4.5 (A-)

This is my ain photograph.

medianet_width='600′; medianet_height= '250'; medianet_crid='228266391′;

Guys, I have a bit of a problem. Whenever I log on to Sephora's site, or when I'g scanning the pages of Beautylish, or when I'm going through my ain stash thinking of what color to wearable, 1 shade always, always pulls me, and that is pinkish. Pocket-size pinkish, but by no means manifestly.

To exist specific, I truly have a special place in my center for light, milky, bluish-based pinks. This started with MAC's Viva Glam Gaga-my very first pink lippie. The color was gorgeous, and I loved (and all the same love!) the way it made my mouth look. I've added several similarly-hued Revlon Lip Butters to my collection (Cupcake is an exact dupe). Still, I don't experience like I have enough. I'm dying to get my hands on both Revlon's Stormy Pink and Pinkish Frown, for starters. MAC has countless iterations of this shade-St. Germain, Pinkish Nouveau, and Snob all fit the neb.

Still, when I'm browsing new brands to try, I'm ever tempted to purchase this color. I forcibly have to tear myself away and endeavour something else. I'grand not certain if this works much to my do good-trying new brands tin be a risk, and if the formula is so-so or a flop, purchasing in a favorite shade could brand it not such a launder. This happened to me a few months back when I tried my firstOCC Lip Tar.I lusted over the many shades of pink (and new I'd be getting quality), but heedlessly, I wanted to "branch out" and ended up buying an orangy-coral shade that was non only hard to article of clothing, but a gull for a Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick I had purchased the same solar day. -_- As great as OCC's formula is, I tin't assistance but feel I'd reach for information technology more than if I played information technology slightly more "safe", and bought my signature pinkish instead.

And then the moral of the story is, while it's good to attempt new things, in that location'due south also a reason why we come back to old favorites. Don't let anyone-even you!-push you too far out of your comfort zone. I'm likely going to acquire every shade of infant pink lipstick that always sees production; I desire to be buried in the color. And that'south what makeup does. A footling tube of space joy can cost as little as $7.99. ❤
